An ex-NRL player has fronted court for his second high-range drink driving offence after being chased by police on foot and arrested on the front lawn of a Central Coast home.
Nathan Logan Massey, 29, a speedy fullback who notched up six games for the Canberra Raiders in 2011, was arrested during the early hours of March 22.
Police had earlier pulled him over on Brooke Ave in Killarney Vale about 1.20am before he hopped out of his black Ford Fiesta and ran off, the agreed facts stated.
Police chased him on foot and in a police vehicle before catching him two streets over on Hume Boulevard on someone’s front lawn.
He was arrested and returned a breath analysis of 0.185, more than three times over the legal alcohol limit for a driver on a full licence.
The Bondi man fronted Waverley Local Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to high-range drink driving (second offence) and drive during disqualification period (second offence).
The court heard he has a previous high-range drink driving offence on his record and has problems with drinking. He will be sentenced on September 29.
Massey has not returned to the top grade since his stint with the Canberra Raiders in 2011.
