Mingara Health opens major new medical centre at Tumbi Umbi
A concierge who meets you at the door and an in-house cafe are just two of the unusual services offered at the Central Coast’s newest medical centre — but there’s also more doctors and the books are still open.

WHAT is believed to be the Central Coast’s largest medical centre has officially opened its multimillion-dollar new premises at Tumbi Umbi.
More than 100 guests, including prominent medical professionals and local business people, recently attended the opening of the purpose-built building.
Mingara Health already has 22,000 registered patients and sees around 500 people a day.
Patients presenting at the centre are greeted by a concierge who smooths their way through the medical process, and they can also get a coffee at the in-house cafe.
Mingara Health encompasses a privately owned medical practice on the ground floor with allied health services such as physiotherapy upstairs, along with the offices of Central Coast Neurosciences. A chemist will also soon open in the building, making it a one-stop shop for patients.
Mingara Medical has 11 GPs including five women, three practice nurses, an on-site pathology collection centre, an in-house dietitian, diabetic educator and exercise physiologist.
Mingara Medical Director Dr Quinten Willemse said he used to drive past the old Krispy Kreme building across the road and think that it would be a great spot for a medical centre.
“We finally took the plunge in 2012 and, after 15 months of planning and meetings and way too much coffee, Mingara Medical opened its doors on that site in July 2013,” Dr Willemse said.
He said the practice had experienced “rapid but sustainable growth” to become possibly the largest practice on the Coast, which had driven the need for the bigger premises.
He said having such a wide range of services under one new roof would allow for comprehensive patient care, inter-referral capacity and the convenience of having all care in one location.
