Police have appealed for witnesses or dashcam footage of the accident which happened at 11.40pm last night.

Police said three people left a golf club travelling in a golf buggy which came to grief as the vehicle turned onto Grandview Street.

A man has been seriously injured in a golf buggy crash at the intersection of Grandview Street near Tuggerah lakes Golf Club.

The golf buggy turned sharply to avoid an unknown vehicle causing the man, 37, who was a passenger to fall from the cart and hit his head on the roadway.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a medically induced coma with a possible fractured skull and a bleed on the brain.

The exit from Tuggerah Lakes Golf Club into Bonnie View Street looking toward the intersection with Grandview Street.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District attended and started inquiries. The driver of the golf buggy, an unknown female, left the scene prior to police arriving.

Another man who was travelling in the golf buggy, aged 52, was spoken to at the scene.

Officers are appealing for the driver, as well as any other witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward and contact police.
