Man, 77, charged over historic sex offences on the Central Coast

A man has been extradited to NSW and charged in relation to sex offences on the Central Coast dating back to the 1980s.

A man has been extradited to NSW on historical child sex offence charges on the Central Coast dating back to the 1980s.

In May, detectives from Tuggerah Lakes Police District reinvestigated reports of child sex offences allegedly committed in the coast area between 1980 and 1987.

Following the investigation, and with assistance from the Queensland Police Service, a 77-year-old man was arrested in Dalby, Queensland on October 31.

An extradition to NSW warrant was granted at Dalby Magistrates Court on November 1 and the man remained in custody.

Tuggerah Lakes detectives travelled to Queensland over the weekend and escorted the man back to NSW and into custody at Raymond Terrace Police Station.

He was charged with the outstanding warrant for the offences of assault female and commit act of indecency, eight counts of sexual assault, assault girl under 10 with intent to carnally know, two counts of sexual intercourse with person 10 and under 16 person of authority and buggery.

Police will allege in court the man committed the sexual-based offences between 1980 and 1987, involving a girl and boy while they were aged between six and 12.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Wyong Local Court today.
