THE construction tender has been awarded and work is set to commence on the revamp of Leagues Club Field in Gosford next month.
Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation (HCCDC) has announced Landscape Solutions as the contractor to deliver the $10 million regional play space.
The latest artist impressions of the site shows it transformed into a nature-inspired play area, with a unique waterway that fills and drains with the tide from Brisbane Water, and designs drawn from the history of local indigenous groups.
The transformation of the iconic field is part of the State Government’s plan to revitalise the city and was unveiled in February this year.
HCCDC acting chief executive Valentina Misevska said construction would begin in December.
“Today’s announcement is an exciting step towards delivering significant change in the Gosford landscape,” she said.
“We have worked to understand community desires for the space, and over the project we have partnered with Central Coast Council, the Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council and our landscape architect Turf Design and Environmental Partnerships to create a great design that will attract families back into the Gosford CBD.
“Awarding the construction contract to Landscape Solutions is one of the final steps of planning, and works will soon begin to build a unique, inclusive space for everyone to relax, play and have the opportunity to learn about the Aboriginal history of the region.”
Leagues Club Field will be closed for the duration of construction through next year, with minor disruptions expected for nearby residents, businesses and traffic.
