A new koala joey has been born at The Australian Reptile Park.
Anna is the second koala joey to pop her head out this breeding season, following in the footsteps of her sister Elsa.
Elsa the koala melted hearts across the globe after videos of her as a joey quickly went viral – so the park decided to continue the movie Frozen theme and call her sister Anna. The pair share the same mother Irene.
Australian Reptile Park curator Hayley Shute, who hand raised Elsa due to feeding issues, said she would be keeping a close eye on Anna and Irene.
“Thankfully, Anna is thriving with her mum and growing up so fast,” she said.
“It was a very special moment being there when she popped her head out for the first time, I couldn’t contain my excitement and I made sure to run over and grab Elsa so she could meet her baby sister for the first time.
“Anna is estimated to be around 10 months old and is right on track as we can see her emerging from the pouch more and more.”
Anna will eventually become part of the koala conservation breeding program at the park.
With the park open again following the COVID-19 shutdown, visitors now have the chance to spot Anna and her big sister Elsa, along with the other koalas at the park.
