It comes after a Copacabana woman allegedly involved in the shooting was arrested and charged.

Jamie Cherie Howarth appeared at Gosford Local Court on August 17 and was brought up from the holding cells for her release application.

The 28-year-old is facing a charge of discharge firearm with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm (accessory after the fact).

Charge sheets tendered to the court stated that Howarth allegedly assisted the principal offender at 5.23am on June 26 in Kincumber.

During her bail application, Howarth’s defence lawyer stated that the case against Howarth was “not strong”.

She said the alleged “accessory after the fact” related to the principal offender entering her car while holding a gun.

“It’s uncertain whether there is any intentional assistance,” she said.

The court heard Howarth moved from Wagga Wagga to the coast to be the carer of her mother and keeping her in custody would be “detrimental” to her mother’s medical condition.

Magistrate Jennifer Price described the charge as serious, however said it was clear Howarth was not charged as the principal offender, but as an offender in the second degree.

She said there was strength in the prosecution’s case, and outlined Howarth’s previous offences including the supply of prohibited drugs, before refusing bail.

Howarth was in tears and looked towards two female support people as she left the court.

She will next appear at Gosford Local Court in September.

Investigations into the incident are continuing with police urging anyone with information or video footage related to the incident to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
