When it came to deciding where to launch the second range from her clothing label, country musician Kasey Chambers couldn’t go past the Avoca Beachside Markets.
“I’ve lived on the Central Coast for years and the Avoca Beach markets are my favourite markets so it was obvious that I would always choose there to launch it,” she said.
“They support so many local businesses and music and I’ve supported them for many years. “Plus they have the best Gozleme.”
Poetry by Kasey and Renee is a labour of love for the multiple ARIA award winner and her long-time friend Brisbane fashion designer Renee Ross.
They launched their first range last year, selling out in 48 hours. Their second range will be available at the final Avoca Beachside Markets for the year on Sunday, where Chambers will be in attendance.
“The first range was really just about two long-time friends making a dream come true by bringing out a few pieces for a fun collaboration,” Chambers said.
“But when we saw how much it connected with women and little girls we thought maybe we have more collections in us!”
The new range The Captain Collection is inspired by Chambers’ first solo album of the same name.
Chambers described the new range as “brave and edgy but it also captures our whimsical, magical side and we feel it represents us as women. Strong and free-spirited at the same time”.
“My daughter Poet - our Poetry muse - also shows these traits and this is represented in a few new pieces we’ve included for young girls”.
The album also holds a special place as 20 years ago, a teenage Ross held up a homemade sign in Chambers’ audience that read “you be the captain!”
“The Captain album means so much to me. Kasey was my hero, her music and lyrics were
my world,” Ross said.
“Twenty years later she’s one of my best friends and business partner – dreams really do come true.”
