A young man who police say was part of the trio who assaulted a woman and stole her handbag while she walked to work at The Entrance has pleaded guilty.

Jordan Gold, from Wyongah, appeared before Wyong Local Court this week dressed in a suit with two male supporters by his side.

The 20-year-old’s lawyer entered pleas of guilty to charges of robbery in company with a back up charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other to be taken into account on sentence.

One charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm was withdrawn.

Gold sat quietly as his pleas were entered, with Magistrate Stephen Olischlager setting the matter for sentence at Gosford District Court on March 2.

Police say Gold was one of three men charged over a brazen robbery of a woman who was punched in the face on the side of the road and had her handbag stolen at The Entrance on May 22, 2022.

According to an agreed set of facts tendered to the court, Gold was 19 at the time of the offending with the victim a 41-year-old woman.

Police allege co-accused Michael Page, who remains before the courts, was driving a friend’s silver Mitsubishi Lancer with two associates on May 22, including Gold.

The trio were seen on CCTV cameras on two occasions at Mingara Recreation Club in the early hours of the morning, captured in the gaming room and then in the carpark and left after 5am.

An hour later the victim parked her car in the carpark near Duffys Lane at The Entrance and started walking to work down Coral St.

She heard a car driving fast behind her before it stopped at the kerb next to her and a man jumped out of the car and approached her.

“He reached towards her and grabbed her handbag … the victim pulled her arm and the bag closer towards her,” the facts state.

“The male then punched her in the face on her top lip and nose.”

The force of the punch made her fall backwards to the ground and she heard a male voice from the car yell “Quick, steal the bag”.

The man grabbed her bag before running back to the car which quickly drove off.

The facts stated the offence was captured from a distance on CCTV and seen by witnesses at a nearby coffee shop, however the male that punched the woman could not be clearly identified.

“The offender accepts liability that he was part of a joint criminal enterprise with at least one other person to rob the victim and that assault of the type was within his contemplation,” the facts read.

The victim was treated by an ambulance and her partner managed to track her iPhone, which was inside her handbag, to The Entrance Surf Club before walkers found the phone on the ground near the club.

Gold’s father told police he had seen his son turn up at his house on the morning of May 22 with two mates who were “driving like idiots” in a silver Lancer.

At around 3pm that day, police stopped the Lancer on McLauchlan Ave at The Entrance and arrested Gold in the back seat.

A search of the car found the victim’s belongings including her bank card, wallet, set of keys and phone case.

Page, from Wyoming, is due to appear at Wyong Local Court on February 7.
