Approval of a $9.8m apartment complex in Gosford has been put on hold.

The DA for 93 to 95 Henry Parry Drive, to include a seven storey building with 34 apartments and 41 basement carparking spaces, has been deferred by the Central Coast Local Planning Panel.

The panel has called on the applicant, Djogo Family Holdings, to change aspects of the landscaping and communal spaces along with a further investigation of traffic issues on the busy stretch of road in Gosford.

It has called on Central Coast Council to approach the Roads and Maritime Services to consider a left in/left out traffic access for the site as opposed to cars being able to make right hand turns.

An objection lodged for the DA stated that Henry Parry Drive was a state road and carried “major north-south traffic”.

“A no right turn should be required at the exit driveway or a barrier erected in the centre of the road,” the submission read.

The applicant has until October 15 to address the panel’s issues.

“This is required due to poor visibility and 50 km/h speed limit in this location.”

The DA includes 13 one bedroom, 19 two bedroom and two three bedroom units, along with 41 carparking spaces in three basement levels.

Council had recommended approval of the DA, saying the development would “contribute to the provision of diversity of housing” and is within walking distance to the Gosford CBD and Gosford waterfront.

The applicant has also asked to exceed the maximum height for the area of 18m and top out at between 18.1 to 20.9m.

The Panel has given the applicant until October 15 to address the issues raised.

The site is close to the notorious Gosford hole, at 86 John Whiteway Dr, which has approved plans for a $60m 97-unit housing development.
