A video and first images of the Gosford Private Hospital redevelopment have been released.
Work is set to start on the $32 million expansion, with the sod turning to take place this Friday.
The expansion includes 12 theatres, additional beds, an expanded day surgery unit/recovery chairs and a brand new maternity ward.
“The redevelopment of Gosford Private is an exciting opportunity for our staff, doctors and the local Central Coast community,” Gosford Private Hospital chief executive officer Matt Kelly said.
“Having additional theatres, beds, a new purpose-built maternity ward and additional carparking allows us to continue to service our local community, with world-class facilities and a patient experience to match.”
In June, Healthe Care Australia announced the hospital had been sold to Barwon Investment Partners (Barwon) for $200 million.
Healthe Care has partnered with Barwon for a “sale-and-lease-back transaction”, and will continue to operate Gosford Private on a long term 25 year lease arrangement.
Barwon’s founding partner and head of healthcare property Tom Patrick said the hospital represented a “key component of the healthcare infrastructure in the fast-growing Gosford region”.
“The site is expansive, and lends itself to future brownfield development opportunities,” he said.
“We will be working closely with Healthe Care to expand and upgrade this important hospital
facility, to better serve the Gosford community.”
Building works are expected to be carried out by Red Eye Construction, and are expected to take approximately 18 months.
