Gosford Hospital cluster: 80-year-old woman dies after testing positive to coronavirus
An 80-year old woman has died overnight after contracting COVID-19 as part of the Gosford Hospital cluster that emerged earlier this month.

An 80-year old Central Coast woman has died overnight at Gosford Hospital taking the state’s death toll to 33 today.
NSW Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant confirmed the woman’s death at a press conference on Wednesday morning.
“An 80-year old woman who passed away in Gosford Hospital with pre-existing medical conditions who was part of a Gosford Hospital cluster,” Dr Chant said.
A cluster broke out at the hospital earlier this month when a healthcare worker unknowingly contracted COVID-19, leading to known infections of five staff members, two patients and four others related to those receiving care.
In a statement a Central Coast Local Health District spokesman said the woman passed away yesterday.
“Central Coast Local Health District has confirmed the death of an 80-year-old woman with pre-existing medical conditions who had tested positive to COVID-19.”
“Sadly, the woman who was part of the Gosford Hospital COVID cluster passed away yesterday in the hospital.
“Central Coast Local Health District extends its sincere condolences to her family and friends.”
A majority of the coast’s cases have emerged in the Gosford postcode area, with numbers in the 2250 postcode now at 34, according to the latest NSW Health data.
