Gosford Greyhounds suspended indefinitely
Punters have been shocked by the sudden decision at Gosford Greyhounds to suspended racing indefinitely after an inspection on the weekend.

RACING at Gosford Greyhounds has been suspended indefinitely.
Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has announced the immediate suspension of the Gosford facility due to the state of the track.
A track inspection, carried out by Greyhound Racing NSW and the NSW Greyhound Breeders, Owners and Trainers Association (GBOTA), last Friday deemed the track unsafe for racing and revealed blue metal stones rising through the racing surface.
A statement released by the NSW GBOTA said “following inspection of the racing surface a decision has been undertaken to abandon all future meetings from Gosford until further notice”.
“The decision comes after ongoing efforts to manage contamination in the track profile. The NSW GBOTA supports the decision and is now working with GRNSW on a comprehensive track reconstruction plan.
“A decision as to the relocation of race meetings will be undertaken with GRNSW and advice issued as soon as possible.”
The Gosford track has been plagued with problems over the past 12 months. In September 2017, the “unfit racing surface” resulted in meeting and training cancellations, and a deep harrow of the track was carried out. The same week, the newly appointed track manager was sacked just after 24 hours in the new role.
As a result of the closure, Tuesday’s meeting is cancelled and GRNSW advised that the prizemoney from the meeting would be distributed between trainers and owners who had confirmed starters in each race.
