Gorokan: Danny ‘Skids’ Collins pleads guilty to Clint ‘Clunker’ Donaldson’s death
A young driver with a four-page traffic record littered with offences has pleaded guilty to the negligent driving death of popular Soldiers Beach SLSC member Clint ‘Clunker’ Donaldson.

His nickname on his social media profile is “Skids” and now for the first time the horrendous driving record of a man who killed popular surf club member Clint Donaldson can be revealed.
Danny Lee Collins, of Gorokan, pleaded guilty in Wyong Local Court to negligent driving occasioning Mr Donaldson’s death.
A more serious charge of dangerous driving causing death was withdrawn and dismissed.
Collins was behind the wheel of a gold coloured Ford Falcon XR6 when he struck 47-year-old Mr Donaldson at 6.30pm on November 22 last year on Marks Rd, Gorokan.
The court heard despite his guilty plea, the facts surrounding the incident were still in dispute.
Following the 28-year-old’s guilty plea, his four-page traffic record was tendered to court which revealed within a month of getting his provisional licence in April 2008 Collins received his first speeding fine.
Since then Collins has had a fleeting relationship with his licence losing it on a number of occasions for speeding, reckless driving and driving while disqualified.
He has also received fines for failing to display his P-plates, talking on a mobile phone while on his provisional licence, negligent driving and seat belt offences.
Police allege Mr Donaldson, who was affectionately known as “Clunker by the close knit Soldiers Beach Surf Club where he was a long-time member, was crossing the road when Collins came along and negligently failed to avoid the pedestrian in the 50km/h zone.
Collins, who’s Facebook profile lists his name as Danny `Skids’ Collins, will be sentenced on December 10.
