A woman charged with allegedly being an accessory after the fact to her ex-boyfriend’s murder has pleaded guilty to possessing drugs.

Maxine “Maxie” Wilson faced Gosford Local Court via video link Thursday where she pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a prohibited drug.

The 28-year-old’s Legal Aid solicitor told the court Wilson had been “clean” for some time but relapsed into drug use after the death of Shahn Baker.

An agreed set of police facts states Mr Baker, 42, was found outside a unit at 16/106 Karalta Rd, Erina, on the evening of February 3.

Despite attempts by paramedics to resuscitate Mr Baker, who allegedly suffered a stab wound to the abdomen, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brisbane Water police with assistance from the Homicide Squad launched Strike Force Bleat to investigate Mr Baker’s alleged murder.

“As a result of inquiries relating to his death, investigators attended the unit complex about 8pm on March 25,” the facts state.

“At the time investigators spoke to the accused as she exited the complex. She was informed that she was being stopped and detained for the purpose of a search relating to the investigation into the suspicious death of (Mr) Baker.”

During a search of Wilson’s handbag police seized a small resealable bag containing a white crystal substance.

Wilson was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station where she participated in an electronically recorded interview and made admissions to being in possession of the drug “ice” for personal use.

She was charged with possessing 0.27g of a prohibited drug and being an accessory after the fact to Mr Baker’s alleged murder.

Wilson’s Legal Aid solicitor told the court she was refused bail in relation to the accessory charge and “not likely to be released in the near future”.

Magistrate Jennifer Price found the possession charge proved but recorded no conviction or penalty.

Wilson will face court again on May 28.

Meanwhile a 28-year-old Berkshire Park man remains in custody after being charged with Mr Baker’s murder.

He will reappear at Gosford Local Court on June 10.
