HSC students across the Central Coast have been put on notice after a group of girls from Erina High School stripped down to their underwear yesterday and danced in a fountain as part of an end of year “scavenger hunt”.
It comes as Erina High School’s Year 12 students were assembled for a special meeting at 9am this morning.
A spokesman for the Department of Education said the school “does not tolerate any inappropriate behaviour”.
“It reinforces its position with Year 12 students in terms of appropriate ways to celebrate their last days at school, and the consequences for disregarding this advice,” the spokesman said.
“In recent years many students have undertaken positive activities that support the community.”
“The students identified at Fountain Plaza are being disciplined according to the school’s discipline code and the advice given about the consequences of such behaviour, particularly in terms of their school record,” the spokesman said.
However, contrary to some comments on social media, he said the students would still be allowed to sit their HSC.
Images of the girls after they stripped down to their underwear in the middle of a weekday in the busy corporate park polarised public opinion.
Some people dismissed it as harmless fun while others described it as wilful and obscene exposure or offensive behaviour in a public place.
