DiDi Australia has launched on the Central Coast as part of a national expansion into 20 new locations and is offering deals to attract customers and drivers.

The company claims its pricing, on average, can be up to 10 per cent cheaper than Ola or Uber, with customers who sign up now receiving 20 per cent off on their first three rides (discounts capped at $10 a trip).

In addition, new Central Coast users will receive six 50 per cent off vouchers — capped at $20 each — to be used during the peak hours of 4pm-8pm on Thursday, Friday or Saturday for the next three weeks from Monday’s launch.

The offer is limited to two vouchers a week with a maximum saving of $120 for each user.

The rideshare company is also recruiting drivers looking for flexible work during COVID-19.

Drivers who sign up to DiDi now, and are approved, will receive a five per cent service fee until September 6 and will receive up to $100 for every other driver they successfully refer to the service.

After this launch period, drivers operating on the coast will transition to DiDi Advance, a tiered service fee program where Diamond drivers pay five per cent, Platinum 10 per cent, Gold 15 per cent and Silver 20 per cent.

The launch follows Canstar Blue’s 2020 ridesharing review of Ola, Uber and DiDi, in which it was the only service to get a five-star rating across all categories — customer service, reliability and timing, cleanliness and availability of vehicles, website and app navigation, deals, value for money and overall satisfaction.

DiDi Australia General Manager Lyn Ma said the company was “thrilled” to finally launch on the Central Coast and 19 other location across Australia.

“Having already operated in both Sydney and Newcastle, we now look forward to not only making ridesharing more affordable in the Central Coast region, but also increasing the opportunities for local rideshare drivers,” he said.
