Deliveroo to launch on the Central Coast on November 15

One of the world’s leading food delivery services is expanding to the Central Coast, launching in four local suburbs, with jobs on offer.

Leading food delivery platform Deliveroo is set to expand to the Central Coast.

Deliveroo will launch across the region on November 15 with hopes it will fill areas not serviced by some of the exiting food delivery services.

“Deliveroo will launch in Gosford, The Entrance and Terrigal on Monday, 15 November and Umina Beach on Monday, 29 November,” the company announced.

“The leading food delivery platform is seeking self-employed delivery riders who value on demand, flexible work and want the freedom to choose when, where and how to work.”

The Central Coast will mark the ninth city on Deliveroo’s expansion map for 2021 with plans to expand across other suburbs across the coast as demand increases.

The news is welcomed by local restaurant owners with The Grand Pavilion owner Sam Sharma saying Deliveroo was an exceptionally popular service.

The Grand Pavilion has venues in both Terrigal and Ettalong and are also registered with other delivery services.

“With everyone using social media, it’s so easy for people to use these delivery options,” he said. “And having another service come to the coast is an advantage for us. We have been here for a while and are the number one Indian food choice.”

Mr Sharma said since the Covid restrictions had eased, there has been a high demand for people to eat inside the restaurants.

“When lockdown initially ended, it was crazy,” he said. “It has settled down but the demand is still there. But more so the demand for takeaway is still very strong and will stay that way.”

Deliveroo Australia chief executive officer Ed McManus said Deliveroo would support the coast community and economy through engaging local riders, partnering with local restaurants and bringing more choice to local consumers

“We are excited to support the Central Coast’s local economic growth through providing additional revenue streams for local restaurant businesses,” he said.

“Riders are at the heart of all we do and we are thrilled to welcome new riders on the Central Coast to our growing rider community. Their hard work powers our growth, and without them we would be unable to bring our customers the best food on demand while at the same time helping great local restaurants to thrive.”

Deliveroo was founded in 2013 by William Shu and Greg Orlowski and has its headquarters in London. It works with more than 143,000 restaurants and takeaways and has 150,000 riders.

The company is looking for local delivery riders who value flexible work.
