COVID-19: Central Coast Council roadworks and upgrades to continue during pandemic

From dredging local waterways to desperately-needed roadworks and park upgrades, Central Coast Council reveals which projects are still underway during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Services and projects across the Central Coast have been severely impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However many projects are continuing with Central Coast Council revealing the much-needed works progressing full steam ahead.

These include dredging of both Brisbane Water at Ettalong and The Entrance channel, along with construction of the Terrigal boardwalk and rock pool, and the Mardi to Watervale Pipeline.

The Davistown wharf upgrade will still go ahead along with new amenities buildings at EDSACC South in Bateau Bay, Don Small Oval in Tacoma, Duffy’s Reserve in Terrigal and Adcock Park, West Gosford.

“Council is focused on the continued delivery of the essential services needed to support our community now, but we are also continuing with essential works to cater for the future needs of our community when life returns to normal,” council’s chief executive officer Gary Murphy said.

“Important maintenance work and projects continue including upgrades to open space and recreation infrastructure, road maintenance and construction, and water and sewer maintenance and upgrades.”

Mayor Lisa Matthews said the work was one way council was helping keep locals, council workers and contractors employed. Projects include:

Roadworks

• Road stabilising and pavement works – Wisemans Ferry Rd, Kulnura, and Chain Valley Bay Road, Chain Valley Bay

• Kerb ramps and footpath – Park Rd, Woy Woy

• Footpath reconstruction – Ocean Beach Rd, Woy Woy

• Footpath construction – Surfers Rd, Wamberal and James Sea Drive, Green Point

• Water main relocation and stormwater drain construction – Davistown Rd, Saratoga

• Stormwater drainage works – Oceano St, Copacabana

• Toomey’s Walk upgrade – Katandra Reserve, Mount Elliot

Water and sewer

• Sewer Pump Station upgrade – Clarke Rd, Noraville

• Water Treatment Plant upgrade – Mardi

• Water mains renewal and sewer main rehabilitation – Coast-wide

• Sewer Pump Station upgrades – Cadonia Rd, Tuggerawong and The Entrance Rd, Forresters

Beach

Recreation and open spaces

• Amenities building construction – Adcock Park, West Gosford

• Playground soft fall renewal – Peninsula Recreation Precinct, Umina Beach

• Playspace upgrades – Empire Bay Tennis Courts, Susan Fahey Park, Copacabana, Wallarah Point Peace Park, Lentara Ave, Umina Beach, Pinyari Park, Kincumber, Fagan Park, Point Clare, Gavenlock Oval, Narara, Walder Cres, Avoca, Brisbane Ave, Umina, Goonak Pde Narara

• Reserve upgrade – Heazlett Park, Avoca

• Boat Ramp upgrade: South Tacoma Boat Ramp (along with jetty and carpark upgrade) and Correa Bay Woy Woy

• Carpark upgrade: Koolewong Boat Ramp

• Tennis court upgrades: Adelaide Street Tennis Courts, Tumbi Umbi, Sohier Park Ourimbah

• Dog park upgrade: Tuggerah Dog Park
