As the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions begin to ease, the Central Coast is starting to see many doors open.
From tomorrow, a swag of small cafes and restaurants will open to customers for dine in services, while Central Coast Council has announced the opening of skateparks, playgrounds and Gosford Olympic Pool.
Most of the major clubs will remain closed to customers including Mingara Recreation Club, Ettalong Diggers and Wyong Leagues, however Gosford RSL has chosen to open its bistro while abiding by the 10-person limit.
Gosford RSL chief executive officer Russell Cooper said from tomorrow, members will be able to book a table in specified timeslots from 11am to the evening.
“It will be a limited menu and full table service,” he said.
“It’s not a money making exercise but we wanted to be able to provide the service for our members. We will have strict health and safety guidelines and people will have their temperature taken on entry.”
Many restaurants have indicated it’s not feasible to open for just 10 people, while some cafes are hesitant to open due to the “nightmare” of policing the 10 person rule.
Pubs across the coast are remaining closed, however The Sunken Monkey Hotel’s general manager Sean Wagstaff said the easing of restrictions was a positive step towards reopening.
“We were weighing up opening but it’s just not feasible,” he said.
“I’ve been speaking to other licensees and the message we are taking from the government is that we can now look at starting to set up again.
“If I could have 10 people in each area that would be a different story. But this is a positive, we are getting closer to opening.”
Some of the highly sought after restaurants such as Saddles, Bombini, Young Barons and The Wild Flower Bar and Dining (formerly Bells at Killcare) have indicated they are working on opening for sit down customers in the coming weeks.
Crowne Plaza Terrigal will not be reopening at this stage, with a spokeswoman indicating there was no set date in place to reopen any of the facilities. This means the beers and burgers won’t be flowing at Florida Beach Bar just yet.
Gosford’s new hot spot The Bon Pavilion will be open for people wanting to sit and have coffee and cake tomorrow and is set to open its restaurant Bonfire from Monday.
Other cafes opening their doors include Bamboo Buddha in Holgate, South End Social in Gosford, The Glass Onion Society in Long Jetty and Glee Coffee Roasters.
Some of the larger cafes are holding off for the next stages include Bellyfish in Terrigal, Cheeky Charlies at Fountain Plaza in Erina, Tommys Gosford, Green Tangerine in Long Jetty and Warnies in Warnervale.
