A Central Coast resident returning from overseas has tested positive to COVID-19.
Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) has revealed the woman was diagnosed in a quarantine hotel in Sydney, where she remains in isolation since returning to Australia.
CCLHD has not indicated where she was travelling from.
“She will be released from isolation once Health staff confirm that the infection has cleared,” a CCLHD spokeswoman said.
“Health staff are undertaking daily wellness checks while she is in hotel quarantine and she is doing well. There are no close contacts of this case. There is no ongoing risk to the community in relation to this case.”
It has been one month since the coast recorded a positive result for the virus. NSW Health indicates the coast has had 125 cases in total since the initial outbreak earlier this year.
Last week, the Central Coast Respiratory Clinic announced it would extend its testing facility until September due to the second wave which is tearing through Victoria and Sydney.
The Erina based clinic has tested more than 14,000 people with no positive results.
Despite the coast’s clean bill of health from COVID-19 for the past month, Queensland Health has deemed the region a COVID-19 “hot spot” with no one allowed to cross the Queensland border from August 1.
