Convicted driver Mohamed Marbany charged with speeding on M1 at Tuggerah
A man whose speeding along a Sydney street led to the death of his brother has been charged with speeding on the Central Coast less than two years later.

A western Sydney man convicted after his speeding led to the death of his brother at Merrylands has been charged with speeding at Tuggerah less than two years later.
Mohamed Marbany was driving a ute along Hawksview St at Merrylands in April 2023, when he clocked 73km/h in a 50km/h zone and collided with a Hyundai i30 that was doing a U-turn shortly before 5pm.
The ute flipped on its roof and Marbany’s 35-year-old brother Nour, who was a passenger, died at the scene.
Marbany pleaded guilty to negligent driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning death in March and avoided jail during his sentence in June when he was given a two-year intensive correction order along with 400 hours of community service.
Judge Siobhan Herbert told the court Marbany had a low risk of reoffending but warned him he would be in custody if he offended again.
Marbany was permitted to start driving again in July 2024, 15 months after the fatality.
On January 9 this year, the construction worker allegedly drove 20km/h over the speed limit on the M1 at Tuggerah.
He was charged with Class A motor vehicle travelling more than 20km/h over the limit shortly after 10pm when he allegedly clocked 134km/h in a 110km/h zone.
The 25-year-old Llandilo man faced Wyong Court on Monday when he was convicted and fined $639 in his absence after a mix-up saw him sitting in the wrong courtroom.
However this was annulled and was relisted for a one-hour hearing on March 27.
Last month, a letter from Marbany expressing his guilt over the death of his brother was read to Parramatta District Court during the sentencing.
“When I see his kids, when I see my mum and dad, I see the weight of what I’ve done and it breaks me inside,’’ he said.
