A beloved Central Coast teen who excelled in a number of sports has been remembered as a “fierce competitor and loyal teammate” in the wake of his shock death.

Ronnie Jordan, 16, died unexpectedly on Sunday after suffering an unexpected medical episode while on an afternoon run.

He was heavily involved with local sports in the Central Coast, with the news of his death rocking the Umina Beach community.

Umina Beach Surf Life Saving Club spoke highly of the “gifted” teen in a heartfelt tribute on social media.

“A gifted waterman, Ronnie was a fierce competitor and a loyal teammate,” the club wrote on Facebook.

“Despite his many achievements, it was his kindness, sportsmanship, and genuine ability to make everyone feel seen and valued that truly defined him.”

Ronnie was a member of the NSW Surf Life Saving Central Coast Representative Team from U12 to U17 and earned numerous NSW state medals.

He was also a member of various local sporting groups, including the Woy Woy Lions Rugby Club, Umina Bunnies Rugby League Football Club, Umina Boardriders, Woy Woy Wombats Water Polo Club, Woy Woy Swim Club, and the Umina United Soccer Club.

The Umina Bunnies also paid tribute to Ronnie and said the club were greatly saddened in the wake of his death.

“Ronnie was truly a special soul, a beloved friend, son, bunny, and brother,” the club wrote on Facebook.

“With unwavering tenacity for life, Ronnie faced every challenge with courage and an infectious spirit. His love for his family and friends knew no bounds.”

Umina United said Ronnie and his family were much-loved members of the local, tight-knit community.

“His warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of so many, and his loss will be deeply felt,” the club wrote.

“As a community, let us support one another and remember the importance of taking care of each other in times of grief.”

The Woy Woy Lions Rugby Club said Ronnie was a very much loved member of the Lions family and a talented player.

“Ronnie mainly played in the position of flanker and was an integral part of the U16 White team who made the grand final this past season,” the club wrote on Facebook.

“He was a player who read the game well and knew what job he needed to do.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the family and has raised over $23,000.
