Head down in your thongs or a suit, bring the family or sit up at the bar and chat with the chefs.
As long as you eat, drink and laugh, the team from At Baker Street in Gosford will be thrilled.
At Baker Street opened just over three months ago and is run by local celebrity chef Chef Daniel who also runs the popular Fork n Knife Catering.
Opening the new restaurant in Gosford was a case of “why not?” for Chef Daniel, who has a culinary history of running cooking shows across the country, a cooking radio show, celebrity chef appearances on P&O cruises, along with a cooking school and his catering company and food trucks.
“A lot of customers have our food at shows or a catering job, and said they want to be able to access it all of the time,” Chef Daniel said.
“So we said ’let’s do it and put together a great team’.”
He described the menu as “fresh, modern Australian with local ingredients”.
“The chefs picks are where we get creative,” he said.
“There’s no official dessert menu, we just made desserts as we please and our flavour of Arancini balls change every time we make them. We’ve kicked away the standard and made the creative come to fruition.”
The team treated us to an amazing variety of meals, including the Mexican Chorizo Scramble and Mediterranean Avocado from the breakfast menu. The combination of sauteed chorizo, a hint of chilli and scrambled eggs was simply divine.
From the grazing menu we tried the mouth-watering Indian spiced calamari and the South American BBQ chicken skewers with Chimichurri.
Next the traditional cheeseburger which is a winner for anyone and everyone, along with the NSW country beef rump, and confit salmon niçoise.
No matter which direction you go, you will find amazingly fresh food that is full of flavour — there’s no denying each member of this team love their food.
When it comes to drinks, you are in the safe hands of Glenn Stewart behind the bar who served us a quirky drinks platter called the Tiny Tini Tasting Tray which is a mixture of mini cocktails from the bar. This is the perfect way to sample a number of cocktails, with my favourite the icy blue drink known as Gosford Waterfront.
Mr Stewart has a passion for pairing cocktails with food, and is always happy to talk through the drinks menu.
At Baker Street also has themed nights such as Tortilla Tuesdays, Massive Burger Mondays and Schnit-house Wednesdays, as well as food and wine pairing and even chocolate and whiskey pairing events.
The kids menu is just a smaller version of any menu item, while the menu is 100 per cent takeaway, with meals presented exactly the same as if you are sitting at the restaurant.
“One thing we are proud of is we offer guidance and teaching to the PCYC, and have had the police bring down groups of kids,” Chef Daniel said.
“We’ve also had a group from Vision Australia, with hearing impairments, who we have given cooking guidance to, and we will be establishing a garden out the back for kids cooking classes. It’s great to be able to inspire.”
The restaurant also supplies food to Bays Rd Brewing on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and have even more tricks and surprises up their sleeve.
