Another two local residents have tested positive to Covid in the 24 hours to 8pm last night after NSW recorded yet another daily high of 390 cases.

Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) confirmed an additional two local residents tested positive on Thursday following two previous positive cases to 8pm on Tuesday.

This brings the total number of cases on the Central Coast since the start of the current outbreak to 25.

One of the two new cases is in isolation, with the source of infection under investigation.

The second case is linked to Lake Munmorah Public School, and is in isolation.

PREVIOUSLY ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11

Two new cases of Covid have been recorded across the Central Coast as NSW tallied 344.

NSW Health has confirmed the two new cases as of 8pm on Tuesday night, and stated that the source of the infections were still under investigation.

During NSW Health’s media conference on Wednesday, chief medical officer Dr Kerry Chant

said preliminary assessment of the cases revealed they both travelled outside of the region and most likely acquired the infection outside of the area.

There is no link between the two cases who are both in isolation.

“We ask the Central Coast community to be very vigilant and come for forward for testing,” she said.

The new cases bring the region’s total to 23 since the start of the current outbreak in June.

It comes after Gosford Hospital’s Emergency Department foyer was declared an exposure site and was associated with a confirmed case in Sydney. A number of other sites have also been identified including the Caltex on Chittaway Rd, Coles in Chittaway Point, Bunnings Tuggerah, Woolworths Bateau Bay and Coles inside Deepwater Plaza at Woy Woy.

Both Gosford and Wyong hospitals are set to hold rapid vaccination clinics across the weekend for the AstraZeneca vaccination.

The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 4,532,296 and there is a goal of $6m by the end of August.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the surge in cases was expected to continue and the current lockdown would remain until August 28 at the earliest. However she said the State Government would look at “extra freedoms” when vaccination rates hit target.

“Nothing will be eased at all until August 28,” she said.

“We will get out of this but we want to make sure we do it in the safest possible way.”

More to come.
