A FINISH time of 12.16am at the Central Coast Council meeting this week highlighted the urgent need for two meetings a month.
Councillors voted to amend the council’s Code of Meeting Practice to include fortnightly meetings, a community forum and simplified order of business.
At Monday night’s meeting at Wyong, a large monthly agenda pushed the meeting close to six hours with important matters dealt with after midnight.
Mayor Jane Smith said with the workload of the new council, it was important to hold fortnightly meetings.
“We have a big job to do, and an important one,” she said. “It is important we all come together regularly to make the decisions that will move the Coast forward.”
Under the current code, the council meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The amended code will set meetings for the second and fourth Monday of the month from February to November and one meeting on the second Monday in December. Meetings will continue to alternate between Gosford and Wyong and be livestreamed.
