For the first time in its history, Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific has closed its doors – and there’s no confirmed date for reopening.
The popular hotel announced the “temporary closure” today, one day before the Easter long weekend.
“Given government restrictions on travel in regional NSW and to support the health and wellbeing of our guests and hotel colleagues, Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific has made the incredibly difficult decision to temporarily close until further notice,” Crowne Plaza Terrigal general manager Ryan South said.
“We recognise that is a very challenging time for so many people, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.”
Mr South also urged people to stay home and contain the spread of COVID-19.
“The sooner this is over, the sooner we can get back to doing what we love to do, offering true hospitality and being part of our community,” he said.
Earlier this week, the hotel came under fire with people claiming it was nearly booked out for the long weekend.
Mr South issued a statement indicating this was not the case and that they had restricted the number of rooms on sale to cater to “essential travellers only”.
“As far as we know, all current bookings are for essential travel for work and we’ve requested they present documentation to this effect,” he said.
