Central Coast coronavirus: Cases continue to climb according to NSW Health

Eleven more cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on the Central Coast according to the latest available health statistics.

The Central Coast has 49 confirmed cases of coronavirus, according to latest statistics from NSW Health.

This is a jump of 11 cases from yesterday’s update, as the number of NSW cases climbs to 1219 with seven deaths.

NSW Health has broken down the data to reveal that 2620 tests have been conducted on the Central Coast with 1.87 per cent testing positive.

It reveals we have an average of 13.89 cases per 100,000 people and have carried out an average of 742.5 tests per 100,000 residents.

It comes as NSW Health confirmed that two more children under the age of 10 have tested positive to COVID-19 in NSW, including a one-year-old girl and two-year-old girl.

There are currently 16 COVID-19 cases in Intensive Care Units across the state, with 10 requiring ventilators at this stage.

The highest age group affected is those aged 20-29, closed followed by people aged 30-39.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian has indicated she is prepared to move ahead of the Federal Government and declare a lockdown over the weekend.

Central Coast Council has announced the closure of holiday and caravan parks run by the council today. The closure will lock out visitors while permanent residents will not be affected.

The council and Surf Life Saving Central Coast declared the end of beach season yesterday in an effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus.
