A kite surfer in his 50s has sustained serious injuries after he flew into power lines on the Central Coast.
Emergency services responded to the incident at Umina Beach at about 11am following reports of a kite surfer being swept airborne into high voltage overhead powerlines.
A NSW ambulance spokesman confirmed the kitesurfer had been blown from the surf into the lines before the lines and the man fell onto the roadway.
It is understood the man fell between five to ten metres, and suffered multiple injuries including facial lacerations.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the patient on scene before he was transported by helicopter to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
It comes as the Central Coast region was battered with heavy winds and rain overnight which continued into Monday morning.
