Legacy’s seniors village development on the Gosford waterfront is one step closer to getting the tick of approval.
Plans are currently before the Department of Planning, Infrastructure and Environment for the modern seven storey development at 51-59 Masons Parade Point Frederick, next door to John Singleton’s completed Ravello development.
Brisbane Water (NSW) Legacy are planning to demolish the existing Legacy building to make way for 54 apartments, communal facilities, offices, carparking as well as landscaping.
The plans also include subdividing Legacy’s 1.2ha block into two lots.
Brisbane Water Legacy’s CEO Peter Lawley has confirmed that the plans, which were on public exhibition in November/December 2021, remain before the Department of Planning and have almost ticked all of the boxes including the City of Gosford Design Advisory Panel to ensure design excellence.
“It’s been through all the hoops and we are in the process of doing the construction documents,” Mr Lawley told the Express.
“We’re hoping that by the middle/second half of this year, we will be turning the soil.”
He said the two lot subdivision would allow Legacy to sell half of the site to help pay for the development.
Mr Lawley said the feedback from the community had been positive with residents in the current Legacy housing able to remain living at the site during construction.
“We had a masterplan for the site in 2019,” he said.
“We are building this so we can continue to look after legacy widows in our village.”
“The one, two and three bedroom units will be a sleek upgrade for our residents, with the current village built in 1964.”
He said the one-bedroom apartments will remain as affordable rental units for Legacy beneficiaries and veterans.
