Footage captured from the air shows one of three whaler sharks spotted chasing a feed off North Avoca on Wednesday morning.
The beach was evacuated at 8.45am after three sharks were sighted North Avoca beach.
Lifeguards and the Department of Primary Industries reported three two-metre whaler sharks had come close to shore.
It is believed they were chasing a seal known to frequent the area and were spotted directly east of the surf club.
Images were captured by the DPI helicopter circling overhead.
Plenty of surfers and swimmers enjoying the October school holiday period were affected.
The all clear was given and bathers returned to the water about 10am after lifeguards were confident the sharks had moved on.
