Canterbury Bankstown coronavirus hot spots revealed for first time

New stats have for the first time revealed just how many cases of COVID-19 there are in each postcode area. The figures reveal a worrying trend in Sydney’s south west with Bankstown and Yagoona emerging as the deadly virus hot spots. SEE HOW MANY CASES THERE ARE IN YOUR SUBURB.

New data breaking down the coronavirus cases by postcode has revealed the hot spots in the Canterbury Bankstown area for the first time.

Canterbury Bankstown council has the sixth highest number of cases in NSW behind Waverley, Northern Beaches, Sydney, Central Coast and Woollahra.

At least half a dozen cases are believed to have been community transmitted.

Of the 71 cases recorded in the City Of Canterbury Bankstown council area as of Thursday morning, 10 of them were in Yagoona and a further nine were in the neighbouring postcode 2200 of Bankstown and Condell Park.

Four of the Bankstown cases were part of the cluster at the Opal Aged Care facility.

The following postcodes have each recorded five cases: 2162 Chester Hill and Sefton; 2191 Belfield; 2193 Hurlstone Park, Ashbury and Canterbury; 2197 Bass Hill and 2213 Panania, Picnic Point and East Hills.

There have been four cases apiece discovered in Campsie, postcode 2196 which covers Roselands and Punchbowl and postcode 2206 of Earlwood and Clemton Park.

Three cases have been identified across Padstow and Padstow Heights combined and just two in Kingsgrove and another two across postcode 2190 which takes in Chullora, Greenacre and Mount Lewis.

The suburbs which have so far had the least coronavirus exposure are Georges Hall and Belmore which had one case each as did postcode 2195 of Lakemba and Wiley Park.
