The race in the NSW state seat of Goulburn remains on a knife’s edge days after the election.
Only a few hundred votes separated Liberal Incumbent MP Wendy Tuckerman and Labor challenger Michael Pilbrow as of 2.30pm on Tuesday.
In a brief statement, Ms Tuckerman said she was “pleased to be ahead this morning – if only slightly.”
“Right now the count is too close to be comfortable,” she said.
“The results can go either way.”
A spokesman for Mr Pilbrow said the candidate did not wish to comment as the votes were still being counted.
As of Tuesday Mr Pilbrow has received 13,273 first preference votes while Ms Tuckerman has received 14,714 first preference votes.
Mr Pilbrow has received preferences from other parties to make up the difference.
The ABC reports Ms Tuckerman has only 306 more votes than Mr Pilbrow at this stage of the count.
This means Ms Tuckerman has 50.5 per cent of the vote and Mr Pilbrow has 49.5 per cent of the vote after preferences.
Goulburn has been held by the Liberals since the seat was reinstated in 2007.
Ms Tuckerman was elected to the seat in 2019 with a margin of 3.1 per cent following the resignation of Pru Goward who had held the seat since 2007.
