A man charged with a slew of driving offences — including fleeing police after he was arrested for alleged car theft outside a sex shop — has applied for bail.

Trent Raymond White, 30, is charged with two counts of driving while disqualified, driving while suspended, failing to appear, escaping arrest or custody, providing a false name or address, drug driving, driving a motor vehicle without consent, failing to stop for police and aggravated furious driving.

Mr White has not entered any pleas.

These charges relate to multiple alleged incidents between December 2021 and October 2022.

Mr White made a failed bid for bail on Monday.

Prosecutor Hannah Mitchell told Chief Magistrate Lorraine Walker how White had a “wanton disregard” for both road rules and directions from the court.

Ms Walker described White’s pattern of alleged offending as “escalating” in danger before refusing bail.

Multiple statements of facts tendered to the court detail serious driving offences Mr White allegedly committed.

Documents state on December 14 last year Mr White had his licence suspended in a NSW court for drug related offences.

The suspension was due to end on January 9, 2022.

In an alleged incident on January 5, 2022, police observed a silver Nissan Navara with NSW plates, with its tray not attached properly, driving along Isabella Drive at MacArthur in ACT.

Police did a U-turn and caught up with the vehicle as it turned onto the Monaro Hwy at Hume.

After stopping the vehicle, police allege Mr White showed them his licence, and then police discovered he was suspended.

Mr White allegedly told police he was not aware of his suspension.

In an alleged incident on April 12, 2022, police say they stopped Mr White while he was driving a Silver Nissan Navara with ACT plates at Heidelberg St, Conder.

Police took Mr White into custody where he had a drug test that allegedly came back positive for a prescribed drug.

Mr White allegedly said “no comment” when asked which drugs he had recently taken.

Police also allege Mr White stole a Grey Volkswagen T-Cross station wagon with ACT plates on June 8, 2022 from a home in Fadden, ACT.

Police allege they saw the stolen car parked outside the Hello Sexy adult store at Wollongong st at Fyshwick at 8.45pm on June 28.

Police say they saw Mr White with a woman at the entrance of Hello Sexy, and questioned the pair about how they arrived at the store.

Mr White and his female companion allegedly told police they took an Uber to the adult store.

A Hello Sexy staff member allegedly told officers he had seen the pair arrive to the store in the stolen car

Police arrested the pair but while police will allege, while under arrest, Mr White allegedly ran to the stolen car and drove away.

A warrant was issued for White‘s arrest on August 18.

Police on patrol in Ainslie on Friday at 6.30pm saw a blue Mazda 3 and allege they noticed Mr White inside.

White was asked to leave his car but police allege he reversed and left at speed.

Mr White drove down Quick st, Limestone Ave and finally Fairbairn Ave towards Canberra Airport.

Police began to follow him with sirens and lights activated but say they turned them off after noticing Mr White was allegedly driving dangerously and erratically.

Court documents say police went to Mr White’s house in Queanbeyan and waited for him to arrive.

Police allege they saw a gold Ford Falcon drive into the driveway at 7.15pm, and saw Mr White leave the car from the front passenger seat before running inside.

ACT Policing, with help from NSW Police, entered the home and arrested Mr White.

Mr White appeared at Queanbeyan Local Court on Saturday where he was extradited to the ACT.

Mr White is remanded in custody and will face ACT Magistrates Court again on November 14.
