The husband of a Yass River woman whose body was found weeks after her disappearance has revealed his heartache of the last moment they shared together before her death.

Tina Quinn disappeared from a Yass River property about 10.30am on July 16 which sparked a multi-agency search.

Police rescue and SES crews scoured the surrounding properties in the weeks after Ms Quinn disappeared hoping to find the 34-year-old.

Sadly her body was located in the Yass River at Yass on Sunday, 6km away from their home.

Her partner Adrian Quinn spoke of the last time he would see his “best friend and partner” alive, and did not see any sign of what was to come.

She dropped him off at his airport accommodation ready for FIFO work on July 8. It would be the last time he would see her again.

Mr Quinn said he was speaking to her regularly over the phone in the lead up to July 16 and then all of a sudden, she was unresponsive. No responses, no calls.

He could see on security cameras at their properties the lights were still on and her car was there. There was again no movement when he checked the next day.

Mr Quinn then called the police with a massive search being undertaken by emergency service volunteers and the community.

Mrs Quinn’s partner of 12 years said her body was found 6km away at a neighbouring property, seven weeks after her disappearance.

The 34-year-old was a German national who moved to Australia 12 years ago for a working holiday when she met her husband in Adelaide.

Mr Quinn said his partner was a talented artist, a qualified cook and tradie with a knack for academics, an avenue she was going to pursue by studying cyber security and mathematics.

Both of them had only just moved to the Yass area at the start of 2023 after years living interstate, with 12 abandoned lambs in toe Mrs Quinn had rescued.

“She had a totally infectious laugh and her smile was just completely overwhelming,” Mr Quinn said.

“Tina was gentle and a down to earth animal lover, a peaceful sort of person … and we got on really well and travelled quite a lot together.”

Mr Quinn said he’d miss his partner’s companionship, with the pair relishing in their similarities and differences.

The next step for the heartbroken husband was to take his wife’s ashes back to Germany so her friends and relatives could say their goodbyes before they scatter her ashes according to her will.

Mr Quinn wanted to give heartfelt thank you for the state emergency service volunteers, the property owner who found Mrs Quinn, the Yass community and the Yass and Hume Police, who worked together during the “baffling” case of his wife’s disappearance.

The mourning widower was still awaiting the coroner’s report however wanted to stress the significance of mental health, saying it was important for those out there to talk and seek help.

“People tend to stigmatise it but it’s another illness like cancer or Covid,” he said.

“We’re not sure if that was the cause for Tina because the Coroner is figuring it out, but I didn’t know anything and I was living with her for 12 years.”
