Two teenagers who allegedly led police on a chase in a stolen Jeep before colliding with a Mazda at Scullin have been charged.
The boys, aged 15 and 16, were allegedly travelling in the stolen car at Macquarie about 6:45 pm on Tuesday when it came to the attention of police.
Police say the Jeep was followed for a short time and was seen running a red light. When police sirens and lights were activated, the stolen car allegedly failed to stop and drove on the wrong side of the road.
The Jeep wasn’t pursued by police due to the risk to the public.
Police officers then located the Jeep after it collided with a Mazda at the intersection of Southern Cross Dr and Ross Smith Cr, Scullin. The driver of the Mazda was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The teenagers were chased on foot by police officers and taken into custody.
The 15-year-old boy was charged with driving a motor vehicle without consent, fail to stop for police, dangerous driving and unlicenced driving, while the 16-year-old was charged with riding in a motor vehicle without consent. Both are scheduled to appear in ACT Childrens Court.
