A man who will face the ACT Supreme Court next year following a fiery neighbourhood dispute has been sentenced for an unrelated property damage charge.
Reid man Taylor John Jones, 27, faced the ACT Magistrate Court on Monday where he was sentenced for destroying or damaging property not exceeding $5000.
Special Magistrate Margaret Hunter said Jones had a history of offending, and ultimately convicted him of the charge and fined him $400.
Jones, who is currently unemployed, will have eight months to pay the fine.
The man is due to appear before the ACT Supreme Court on February 16 next year where he will be sentenced for arson, possessing an offensive weapon and common assault.
Those charges relate to an incident in September where Jones threw a lit aerosol bottle at his upstairs neighbours' door and threatened the neighbour with a knife during a dispute about loud music.
The statement of agreed facts stated during the incident Jones attempted to slash the neighbour with the knife.
Court documents also state Jones accidentally set his own clothes on fire when he threw the lit aerosol into his neighbour’s house.
Jones pleaded guilty to those charges in October.
