Footage has emerged of another jaw-dropping incident inside a popular car festival in Canberra after fights between security and punters made national headlines.
In a video uploaded to social media last week, a security guard can be seen asking a driver to pull over at the Summernats, prompting the man to say “I don’t know what your problem is”.
The guard moves closer to the driver while the passenger films the encounter, and asks the man to jump out.
“What do you want me to do mate,” the driver says as he opens his door ready to get out of his vehicle.
Visual recordings then show the security guard allegedly punch the driver in the face before he tries to pull him out of his vehicle.
Another security officer is seen trying to break up the wild melee before the guard is taken away, as a police officer joins the discussion.
The man who was struck then begins to yell out to police “I’d like to press charges on him, I’d like to press charges on this guy … police officer I’d like to press charges please”.
An ACT Policing spokeswoman said they were aware of the incident which occurred inside Exhibition Park in Canberra the weekend of the festival.
“Investigations into the incident are ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time,” the spokeswoman said.
“No further comment will be made while investigations are ongoing.”
The new video follows shocking footage which was unearthed on January 6 where security guards wearing pink high vis vests with “crowd safety” emblazoned on them were seen fighting with patrons.
Witnesses to the brawl were heard shouting “come on, boys” as revellers appear to taunt security before the guards throw punches and swing at the rowdy crowd.
Summernats, an annual car festival held in the nation’s capital since 1987, attracts festivalgoers from across Australia who admire modified cars, their specs, and their abilities from paintwork to burnouts.
This publication contacted Summernats festival organisers for comment but did not hear back before publication.
