Queanbeyan: Worker allegedly swindled $736k from employer

A woman is set to face court after allegedly stealing more than $700,000 from her Queanbeyan employer, according to police.

A woman has been hit with eight charges after she allegedly stole more than $700,000 from her Queanbeyan-based employer, police will allege.

Officers attached to the Monaro Police District were notified of an alleged fraud 12 months ago, which allegedly involved an employee at a Queanbeyan-based business.

The 42-year-old woman was arrested when she attended Queanbeyan police station on Wednesday morning.

She was charged with five counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by means of deception and three counts of steal property as a clerk or servant, greater than $15,000.

The 42-year-old was granted bail and will appear before the Queanbeyan Local Court on October 21.

Police will allege in court the woman fraudulently stole more than $736,000 from her employer.
