Queanbeyan man killed in crash along Pialligo Ave, Majura

A Queanbeyan man has lost his life in the lead up to Christmas after being involved in a devastating crash near Canberra Airport, marking the fourth fatality on the ACT’s roads in 2023.

Tragedy has struck in the lead up to Christmas with a Queanbeyan man dying in a two car collision near Canberra Airport in Majura.

Emergency crews rushed to Pialligo Ave, between Scherger Dr and Oaks Estate Rd, about 9.10am on Wednesday after a Holden Astra hatchback and Nissan Patrol collided.

Two men and a woman were treated by paramedics at the scene however the Holden driver, a 30-year-old Queanbeyan man, sadly died.

The other man and woman who were both travelling in the Nissan were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

ACT Policing’s Major Collision Team is investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Police are also appealing for witnesses to the collision or those who may have dashcam footage of Pialligo Ave in the lead-up to the collision to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.

This is the fourth fatality on ACT roads in 2023.
