Priscilla Palombi charged with importing ice into Australia

A woman allegedly tried to import 4.5 kilograms of methamphetamine - with a street value of $4 million- through the mail.

A woman has faced the ACT Magistrate’s Court charged with importing nearly 5 kilograms of methamphetamine through the mail.

Bonner woman Priscilla Palombi, 39, appeared in court via video link during a brief mention on Wednesday charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported controlled drug.

Australian Border Force seized the package allegedly containing 4.5 kilograms of methamphetamine on November 3.

The drugs were removed from the package and replaced with an inert substance before the package was tracked by ACT Policing and allegedly delivered to Ms Palombi’s residence on November 17.

A search warrant was executed at the residence and Ms Palombiwas arrested.

ACT Policing officer in charge of organised crime, Detective Inspector Mark Steel, said the drugs had an estimated street value of $4 million dollars and the quantity could supply 45,000 street deals.

She did not enter pleas or apply for bail. Bail was formally refused.

Ms Palombi will be remanded in custody until she returns to ACT Magistrate’s Court on December 14.
