A date has been set for the sentencing of the drug driver responsible for a fatal crash which took the life of beloved Canberra disability advocate and 2020 Senior Australian of the year Sue Salthouse.

Mitchell Ryan Laidlaw pleaded guilty to culpable driving causing the death in the ACT Supreme court in March.

Laidlaw is also charged with drug driving which he pleaded guilty to at an earlier date.

Police had alleged Laidlaw was under the influence of methamphetamine during the time of the crash.

On Friday ACT Chief Justice Lucy McCallum ordered a pre sentence report to be prepared before she would hand down her sentence.

Laidlaw’s bail will continue until July 15 when the drug driver will learn his fate.

Ms Salthouse died in July 2020 following a crash on the Commonwealth Ave bridge while driving a wheelchair accessible motorcycle.

Following a horse riding accident in 1995 which left her paraplegic, Ms Salthouse became a devoted advocate for women and disabled people.

She was the 2020 Senior Australian of the year and received an AM posthumously in the 2022 Australia Day honours.
