A man is behind bars after he was charged with attempted murder over an alleged stabbing at a home in Canberra’s inner north.
Jay Lindsay Curtis-Hodge, 39, was arrested on Wednesday in Oaks Estate, near the NSW-ACT border.
Police had been hunting him for more than two weeks, following what they have described as “a physical altercation” with another man at a home in Turner.
Officers claim Curtis-Hodge assaulted the other man about 9.40pm on March 25.
He is then accused of “brandishing a kitchen knife, attempting to stab the other man and threatening to kill him”.
“The 39-year-old fled the scene on foot a short time later,” ACT Policing said in a statement on Thursday.
“During the altercation, the victim suffered a stab wound to the hand as he attempted to defend himself, as well as soft tissue injuries to the head and face.”
After a night in police custody, Curtis-Hodge faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday.
His Aboriginal Legal Service lawyer, Alyssa Elwood, told the court there was no application for bail.
Magistrate Alexandra Burt therefore remanded Curtis-Hodge in custody ahead of his next court appearance in May.
The 39-year-old did not enter pleas to charges of attempted murder and common assault.
Prosecutor Claire Daly told the court the charges were not family violence-related.
