Goulburn: Man extradited from WA, charged with robbery and sexual offences

NSW detectives have extradited a man from Western Australia and charged him with alleged aggravated robbery and sexual offences, following an investigation into incidents in the state’s Central West earlier this month.
State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad detectives and The Hume Police District established Strike Force Noobillia to investigate reports of sexual and physical assault of a 19-year-old woman.
According to a NSW Police statement, the woman was walking north along Bourke Street in Goulburn when she was allegedly approached by a man about 11pm on Friday, April 14.
The man allegedly grabbed the woman and punched her several times to the faces before she lost consciousness.
The woman regained consciousness and after flagging down a passing motorist for assistance she appeared at Goulburn Police Station.
The woman suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, detectives began inquiries into a further alleged physical assault which occurred a week prior near Blackshaw Rd, Goulburn.
An 18-year-old woman was walking along the road when she was allegedly approached and punched in the face by a man – who was not known to her – at about 10.30pm on Wednesday, April 5.
The woman broke free and was later taken to hospital for treatment for facial injuries.
Officers from Western Australia’s Police Force’s Rapid Apprehension Squad arrested a 41-year-old man about 10.30pm on Sunday, April 23, after which he was taken to the Perth Watch House.
The man was extradited to NSW and arrived about 6.45pm in Sydney on Wednesday, April 26.
He was taken to Mascot Police Station and charged with eight offences, including two counts of aggravated robbery and inflict actual bodily harm, inflict actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse with victim, two counts of sexually touch another person without consent, choke person intend to commit indictable offence and two counts of stalk and intimidation intend fear physical harm.
He was refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.
