Daniel Tomkins charged after man stabbed in Queanbeyan

An allegedly violent home invader involved in a daylight break in was on the run for more than 24 hours before being arrested in a NSW regional town.
Emergency services were called to a home on Donald Rd, Queanbeyan, about 4.40pm on Sunday following reports of a stabbing.
Monaro police arrived to find a 38-year-old man with stab wounds, allegedly inflicted by 42-year-old Daniel Tomkins, who fled the scene on foot before officers arrived.
The 38-year-old man was treated by paramedics before he was taken to Canberra Hospital in a serious, but stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and an investigation into the incident commenced.
Following inquiries, police arrested Tomkins about 8pm on Tuesday. He was charged with the aggravated entering of a dwelling with the intent to inflict actual bodily harm and wounding a person with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Tomkins appeared in Cooma Local Court on Wednesday before Magistrate Roger Clisdell who refused the accused bail.
The matter will return to Queanbeyan Local Court in November.
