Canberra: Man shot in the leg during home invasion in Reader Court, Banks

A Canberra man was shot in the leg after masked gunmen allegedly forced their way into his home just after midnight. Here’s the latest.

A man was shot in the leg during a home invasion in the nation’s capital.

Just after midnight on Thursday, a man and woman were woken by the sound of a loud bang at their home on Reader Court in Banks

The man was confronted inside his home by two males described as being tall and both were wearing black balaclavas, hoodies and track pants. Both were carrying firearms.

The two males allegedly assaulted the resident before one of the males shot him in the leg.

Both men fled the scene on foot before getting into a dark blue BMW SUV and driving off.

Police and emergency services attended the scene and the injured man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

ACT Policing is seeking any information relating to the incident or witnesses who have not yet spoken to police.
