A checkout chap who was arrested in December for three counts of possessing child abuse material has been charged with five additional sex offences.
Ainslie man Angus Gottaas-Hughes, 22, is charged with a total of four counts of possessing or controlling child abuse material obtained or accessed using a carriage service, two counts of sexual intercourse without consent and two counts of an act of indecency without consent.
The court heard all of the charges of sexual intercourse without consent related to the same complainant.
Mr Gottaas-Hughes has not entered a plea for any charges against him.
His lawyer James Maher from Kamy Saeedi Law asked the court for an adjournment which was granted by Magistrate Louise Taylor.
Mr Gottaas-Hughes will remain on bail and will re appear in court on May 12.
The supermarket worker was arrested on December 7 last year following a seven month investigation by ACT Policing’s Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET).
JACET’s investigation began in May 2021 after the unit received information from a foreign law enforcement agency about Australian IP addresses allegedly being used to access child sex abuse material.
Outside the ACT Law Courts Mr Gottaas-Hughes quietly mumbled “f**k off” as reporters took photos as he left court.
