The weather is looking perfect on Saturday and just a drizzle of rain is expected on Sunday.
Here’s five great ideas to fill your weekend.
Wooley Street Night Markets
Canberra’s Chinatown is the place to be on Friday night, with live music, and street stalls from 6pm.
Performances wrap up at 10pm.
All your favourite local restaurants will be open and bustling.
The Day of the Dead
This is like Halloween on steroids. The Polish Club at O’Connor is again putting on a full day of festivities on Saturday, which will start off family-friendly and kick on until the wee hours.
There’ll be, piñatas, face painting, Mexican wrestling shows from 4pm (kids welcome) and 8.30pm (adults only), plus hours of live music, food and drinks.

La Grand Fete
The Telopea Park School fete is not your normal school fete. Long known as the “foodies fete” the bilingual school each year puts on a day of rides, stalls and French food and wine.
The event kicks off from midday on Saturday, and runs until 6pm.
There’ll be a display from the Canberra French Car Club, stalls of French homewares, wine, vintage clothing, perfume and books.
Sound Gazing at Mount Stromlo
If you’re after a nice way to round out the weekend, head to the top of Mount Stromlo on Sunday evening for the third Sound Gazing event.
BYO picnic and relax near the observatory while live musicians play from 5.45pm until sunset at 7.42pm.
Tickets are $15, or $10 for concession holders.
JDM Masters
If you’re into life in the fast lane, head down to Exhibition Park on Saturday for the JDM Masters car and bike show.
There will be family and kids activities, plus some dozens of modified Japanese cars, some of which have never been shown in Canberra before.
