Police call for witnesses to aggravated robberies in Downer

ACT Police are calling for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage as investigations continue into two aggravated robberies in Downer last Sunday.

ACT Police are calling for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage as investigations continue into two aggravated robberies in Downer last Sunday.

The offender allegedly threatened the victims with a firearm during both aggravated robberies, and police believe the incidents are linked.

About 5.10am on October 6, a man attempted to force his way into a residence on Melba Street and demanded the occupant’s car keys.

The offender then fled the residence empty-handed, however two vehicles at the location were ransacked.

Then, about 5.40am, a man forced his way into a house on Atherton Street, where he demanded the resident’s car keys.

The resident complied and the man took the car, a white Volkswagon Polo.

Police have since recovered this vehicle.

The offender is described as caucasian, tall and blue eyed.

He was wearing dark clothing, a black cap and a red bandana across his face at the time of the robberies.

He was accompanied by a woman, who is described as “very short”, wearing a bulky black jacket.
