Canberra kitchen hand James Stuart Logue was on Friday bundled off to jail after a tip-off from dating app Tinder led police to uncover his depraved child porn habit as well as his attempts find young girls around the world to have sex with.

Logue, 29, fronted the ACT Supreme Court supported by his “upset and disappointed” father, and was sentenced to 18 months and 28 days jail, to be suspended after three months served.

He had previously pleaded guilty to preparing for having sexual intercourse with a child outside Australia, using a carriage service to access child abuse material and possessing child pornography.

Court records show in 2019 Logue offered to pay 30,000 Thai baht — about $1500 — to an unknown person “to find me young girl for sex”.

“I like small skinny girl,” he said.

“The younger she is, the more money I pay.”

When asked if he got “horny with lil girl”, Logue responded, “yes”.

When told his requests were “kinda human traffic somehow”, Logue upped his offer to 80,000 baht.

Logue in 2019 went overseas four times, including three times to Thailand, although there was no allegation and no evidence that he ever acted on his vile plans.

He had two Tinder accounts, one named “James” and another named “Sugar Daddy”.

Logue at one point offered up to $US4500 for to a person in Kenya to find him a 10-year-old girl to have sex with.

After a tip-off from the dating site, police raided Logue’s house and uncovered a stash of child pornography on his phone, including one video that showed a child performing an act of bestiality.

Justice Michael Elkaim said he believed Logue was fully aware what he was doing was wrong.

“I cannot overemphasise my abhorrence at this type of conduct,” Justice Elkaim said.

He said people who access or possess child pornography must be left “in no doubt that if caught they are almost certainly facing a prison sentence”.

Logue told police he was looking for young girls “for fun” and said by that he meant “ah … for sex”.

He said it was “more of a fantasy while at home bored”.

Logue told a court-appointed report writer that he “didn’t view the children as real when I was doing this”.

The report found he was addicted to online pornography.

After time served on remand, Logue will be released in late July.
